About Waitara Pony ClubWe are a North Taranaki based Club, and our national body is the New Zealand Pony Clubs Association (NZPCA).
Our aim is to provide instruction in pony/horse riding and management for members up to 25 years of age. This is done through a range of forums including rallies, camps and treks to ensure all members receive instruction in riding skills (e.g. games, dressage, show jumping, cross-country riding) and pony or horse care. Opportunities are available to work towards certificates of achievement, beginning with the D certificate and working through D+, C, C+ and B to H and A certificates. The Equine Skills certificate, at bronze, silver or gold level may be taken at any time. Our Club also holds competition events for our own members during the season (known as "closed events"), which determine the winners of our dressage, show jumping, show hunter, games and cross-country cups. ‘Points Cups’ are also awarded to those who’ve gained the most points for presentation of the rider, horse and tack throughout the season. The ‘Most Improved Rider Cups’ reflect the progress made by riders in each group. So you can see there is plenty to do at Pony Club and we all like to enjoy ourselves while we’re there. Members and/or their parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend our monthly meetings. The more support our club is given, the stronger it will be in order to provide for its members. |
Becoming a memberWaitara Pony Club has a growing group of really awesome members. We learn and grow together while enjoying some great experiences with our horses. Most of all we have fun as a team.
If you are a new member wishing to join Waitara PC for the 2024/25 season please email the secretary. There is a minimum age of 5 and maximum age for Pony Club competitors of 25. If you have any queries about becoming a member please email our Secretary at [email protected] |
Our Instructors
Our group of dedicated instructors all volunteer their time freely to the members of Waitara Pony Club to help enhance and increase their horsemanship and riding skills. They have all been instilled with the knowledge of the structured teaching syllabus as set out by the National Governing Body. This syllabus is updated frequently and all our instructors attend coaching courses and clinics to update their skills. Our combined resources are close to a century of riding and coaching experience in the pony club system.
Our Grounds
We have the biggest dedicated equestrian facility in North Taranaki. Our cross country course consists of levels ranging from First Start to Open and contains every type of obstacle you would find out eventing. There is a full size games arena, yards, clubrooms and dedicated areas for dressage and show jumping.
You can hire our grounds for any event just go to our online booking system on the grounds booking page tab above.
